How will a Christian know he has eternal life?

God's word assures the believer

A true Christian is one who has repented of his sins, trusted Jesus Christ, and accepted Him as Lord and Savior. The Bible teaches that at the point he believes and receives Christ, he becomes a child of God (John 1:12). A child of God is secured because no child of God will go to hell (Matt.7:11; Rom.8:17). Eternal security of the believer means that one who is already saved will never lose his salvation. He is sure of going to heaven and his destiny cannot be changed.
