Why Christians experience inner struggle

When you become a Christian, you will always start as a spiritual babe and you will experience struggles in following the Lord. Why? Because we are still in the flesh, and though believers are new creatures in Christ and possess a new nature, yet the old sinful nature is still within. Though there is that spiritual desire in your "new self" to follow the Lord, such is being opposed by your "old self". Paul said:

For that which I do I allow not:
for what I would, that do I not;
but what I hate, that do I.
--Romans 7:15

Q.1
Have you ever found yourself doing things contrary to God's will and then you realize you do not like what you are doing such as displeasing the Lord? *

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
--Romans 7:15

Q.2
Why is it that when you try to do good, still you can't and you end up doing what is not right before God? *

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
--Romans 7:16-20

Q.3
What is the desire the inward man? *

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
--Romans 7:22

Q.4
How is the inward man called in Ephesians 4:24? *

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
-Ephesians 4:22-24

Q.5
How is the old sinful nature called in 1 Corinthians 2: 14? *

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
-1 Corinthians 2:14

Q.6
How many parts does a man have? *

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
-1 Thessalonians 5:23

Q.7
What is born of the Spirit? *

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
-John 3:6

Q.8
How much should we desire God's words? *

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
--Psalms 19:7-10

Q.9
Whenever you try to do good and what is pleasing to the Lord, is there a battle going on in your mind? Why? *

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
--Romans 7:21-23

Q.10
Is it easy to perform that which is good and pleasing to the Lord? *

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
--Romans 7:18

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
--Matthew 26:41

Q.11
If you already accepted the Lord Jesus and have the desire to obey God, yet you find difficulty in resisting temptation, it shows__________. *

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
--1 Peter 2:2

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
--2 Peter 3:18

Q.12
What must you do so that you will be able to overcome your old sinful nature? *

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
--Ephesians 4:22-24
