The Test of a True Follower of Jesus

To be a good leader, you must first be a good follower of Jesus. He said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4: 19). If you follow the Lord faithfully, you will actually develop good Christian leadership and your influence on people will increase. Christ promised those who follow Him that they will be made fishers of men. There may be some trials in following Jesus. You may face some rejection, loneliness, and difficulties of task, but if you are a true follower of Jesus, you will shine and your influence or leadership on others will increase. (Prov.11:30). Will you just stand there or start following Jesus by knowing Him through His words?

Q.1
When all friends forsake you because you follow Christ... *

At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
(2Ti 4:16-17)

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
(Heb 13:5)

Q.2
When you feel so weak and in despair... *

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2Co. 12:9-10)

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(Php 4:13)

Q.3
When you feel nobody loves you... *

Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
(Psa 42:8)

Q.4
When the task is so difficult ... *

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
(2Ti 2:3)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
(1Jn 4:4)

Q.5
When you encounter so many problems... *

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
(Psa 34:19)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
(Mat 11:28-29)

Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
(Psa 119:92-93)

Q.6
When it is so risky to follow Jesus... *

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. (Mat 10:32-39)

Q.7
When you experience temptations... *

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
(1Co 10:13)

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1Jn 2:15-17)

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
(Pro 28:26)

Q.8
When you have lots of needs... *

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
(Php 4:6)

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Php 4:19)

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(Mat 6:31-33)
